Pan-European Movement

Challenged by the announcement of the former Greek minister Janis Varoufakis that he wants to establish a "Pan-European Movement", the president of the International Pan-European Union Alain Terrenoire sent a communiqué to the public in which he explained that the "Pan-European Movement" already exists and has been active for 95 years.

Communiqué

"On the occasion when a former Greek minister states his intention to create a “Pan-European Movement”, I would like to remind that the Pan-European Union has existed for more than 90 years. It was founded and presided by Richard Coudenhove-Kalergi, who was succeeded by Otto von Habsburg. This non-governmental organisation, the oldest pro-European organisation is represented by 30 national committees.

Its headquarters are in Strasbourg where it has working group meetings during each plenary session of the European Parliament.

The Pan-European Union works towards a union of all European countries and towards a strong, independent, sovereign, and solidary Europe in the framework of a social market economy."
