46th Andechs Europe Day

The Pan-European Union Germany organised the 46th Andechs Europe Day on 15/16 October 2016 in cooperation with the European Institute for Political, Economic and Social Issues under the title ‘Mir san mir – aber wer?’.

The main questions of the conference were: How much change can Bavaria, Germany and Europe tolerate and how much identity do they need? What are the cultural, legal and intellectual foundations of our coexistence? Who sets the standards that ensure our freedom and stability?

President of the Pan-European Union Croatia and International Secretary General of the Pan-European Union, Prof. Dr Pavo Barišić, spoke on the topic: ‘Public sphere and democracy - the ethical conditions of a community’.

The President of the Pan-European Union Germany, Bernd Posselt, spoke on the topic: ‘The European has a fatherland, and he has reason to love it’.

The festive service in the pilgrimage church in honour of Saint Hedwig was celebrated by H.E. Želimir Puljić, Archbishop of Zadar (Croatia), who also took part in the discussion forum ‘Who is “us” - Questions on a European Leitkultur’, moderated by Dr Dirk Hermann Voß, International Vice-President of the Pan-European Union.
